Questions No One is asking
No one: What was your first instrument?
dm: 1980 Epiphone that’s been passed around my family…and has played on stage with Dave Dudley…just saying.
mm: Texarkana 6-string dreadnot. I’ve never seen another “Texarkana” in my life. It was a beast to play.
No one: Best concert?
dm: Daves of Thunder! We got to see Dave Simonett and Dave Carol play at the No Name Bar in Winona, MN.
mm: Has to be B.B. King at the Dodge Theater. He is the best entertainer I’ve seen.
No one: Where is your favorite place you’ve played a show?
dm: Love the stage at Monterey Court.
mm: That’s tough. Probably Monterey Court here in Tucson. It is where we got our start and it has a definite Tucson vibe.
No one: I know you have a collection of instruments. What is your go-to?
dm: My Beansprout banjo. I can’t believe I own that…I”m not worthy.
mm: My Gibson J-50 is what gets taken out most often. There is something about that guitar that speaks my language. It’s super versatile too.
No one: Where is your dream venue as musician?
dm: Any place I can open for one of my favorite artists.
mm: Red Rocks. That’s probably cliche but I can’t imagine wanting to walk out onto a stage more that that one.
No one: Favorite song-writer?
dm: Dave Simonett…the pride of Minnesota!
mm: Oh boy…I guess I would have to say that the song-writer who has influenced me most is Dave Simonett. Gregory Alan Isakov writes a style of music/lyrics that I’m working toward.
No one: What is your dream instrument?
dm: Isakov’s Gibson. I would risk jail time to get my hands on that.
mm: This is strange to say but…I am satisfied.
No one: What is most frequently playing on your playlist?
dm: Benjamin Tod and the Lost Dog Street Band, Gregory Alan Isakov, Trampled by Turtles, Matt Heckler, Jason Dea West, John Craigie.
mm: Trampled, Isakov, Dead man Winter. I like some old Prine, Dylan and Fleetwood Mac too.
No one: Anything else you want to share with your fans?
dm: cats rule and dogs drool!
mm: Honestly if anyone has read this far, email us and I’ll get you a sticker.
